The Givens Grove

Dun Gone And Dun It

Chad and I have owned/built several houses since we married, but those houses were always built to sell.  They were never truly mine.  Actually, I haven’t lived in a home that was “mine”  per-say since I was 8 years old.  To give you an idea I have lived in 15 different houses over the course of my life.  I’m 31, so that’s an average of once every two years.  OY!

But God knows this girl’s heart.  This girl is a homebody who loves it.  Who longs to stay in one place forever and never leave.  Who wants to give her kids memories of the same place.  From their first little memories till their last.  Memories of comfort and of a place to love and lean on Jesus.  And that is just what God has given me.

WE BOUGHT THE FARM Y’ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Were there enough exclamation points there??  I think it could probably use a few more to better clarify how ecstatic we are…but I will leave it as it is.  I am sure you get the picture though.

We finally purchased the little farm we have been renting for four years and it feels …..exhilarating and terrifying all in one breath.  Ideas bursting, waiting to be implemented.  Fences and orchards to install.  Barns to raise.  Cows to cuddle.  Yes.  I said cows to cuddle.  Okay….once they are a couple hundred pounds cuddling is probably out of the question, but nonetheless…. a big ole YES to cuddling baby calves!  Additions and remodels waiting for the sledge hammer to come cracking down.  My life in a glorious shambles.

It’s going to be awesome.  And dirty.  And glorious.  And stressful.  Did I mention it’s going to be awesome??  It is, and it will be.

It’s time to celebrate with homemade icecream people!

While I am beyond excited about our future (like you couldn’t tell),  I am also just reveling in the moment God has me in.  This moment.  I don’t want to wish away this sweet time with our kids for the “one day when it’s all done”.  Because honestly, it will never be “done”.  There is always something.  I am reading a book a sweet neighbor gave to me called “Simply Tuesday” by Emily P. Freeman.  It’s about celebrating our smallness, and seeing God in our ordinary moments of life and not just seeing Him in our milestones.  It has really brought my perspective around.  I began to realize how easy it was to rush through this life, and live for tomorrow while missing what God has for me today.

So here’s to dreams and prayers answered.  Here’s to seeing God in this moment.  Here’s to smallness.  Here’s to keeping our sanity through it all!

Can’t wait to share all the new adventures we will most definitely be having at The Givens Grove.  And if stopping by tickles your fancy don’t forget to bring your sledge hammer… and a vat of icecream.  Maybe two vats.  How much is a “vat” anyways?   Whatever it is, I am sure it isn’t enough.  But it’s a start.

Much love and icecream friends!

What did Solmon’s temple look like during construction? Probably pretty messy…except for the vision. The vision was always sharp and clear and was the focus, not the construction mess. Our lives, likewise, as well as the tasks God puts before us can resemble a construction site. The secret is keeping our focus upon the vision God has given and doing the task before us TODAY with excellence. God bless, equip and prosper you as you put your touch on the vision you have been given of person, family and farm. Love you so much! Darrell

Oh sweet friend, we need to sit long and talk much soon… for you are seeking those things above, not running after the things of this world. The third paragraph of your last post so filled my heart and now this one….We share your joy in this gift from our Good God.
